3 1/2 ounces of fresh basil leaves.
1 large clove of garlic.
1 1/4 cup of parmigiano (grated).
Juice of 1 lemon.
Pinch of salt and pepper.
1/4 cup of pine nuts.
1 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil.
Place all of the ingredients, except the olive oil, into the mortar (bowl). Add a little of the olive oil and use the pestle to crush/mix. Continue the process, adding more olive oil asd needed, until it reaches a smooth and creamy consistency. NOTE: You may not need all of the olive oil listed in the ingredients. You can use a food processor, but the mortar and pestle is the traditional method.
